Summer is ALMOST here!!

Summer is just around the corner, and with summer comes the 1st Annual Skinner MS Library Summer Reading Challenge!!!

All YOU need to do this summer is READ and then DOCUMENT the minutes read!

This can be done via on-line (see the Skinner Library Homepage).

A.R.C. - Now Reading CALL OF THE WILD

A.R.C. has just begun reading Jack London's class novel Call of the Wild.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, May 3rd @ 6:50 am in the library.  Grab a copy today and join us for breakfast as we talk about the first few chapters!

STEAMPUNK Convention

Last month a group of Skinner Students attended AnomalyCon Mini(on).  They had a BLAST!!  Ms. Davis and Mrs. Lewallen are looking forward to bringing students again next year!!  Keep a look out for information during the 2016-2017 school year!!

Steampunk Pictures

As promised, here are some picture ideas for Steampunk costumes and accessories.

We are hosting a "Steampunk Costume Design" session in the library on Tuesday, March 15th and Thursday, March 17th from 3:30 - 4:30 PM.  Students wanting to join us and work on Steampunk costumes and accessories are encouraged to attend one or both of the sessions.

Remember to bring your own materials and supplies!!

A.R.C. -- We're reading The 5th Wave

A.R.C., Skinner's Breakfast Reading Club, just held its 3rd meeting on March 8, 2016th!

Currently we are reading The 5th Wave, and WOW things are getting good!!

It's not too late to join us with this book!  Our next meeting is scheduled for 6:50 am on Tuesday, March 22nd.  We are reading up to Section VII!!

Hoping to go see the movie as a group once we finish reading!!

STEAMPUNK ...

STEAMPUNK ... what is it???

According to the blog, Steampunk For Kids, "STEAMPUNK is a made-up, fantasy period of history (or the future). Steampunk imagines what it would be like if the Victorians had used steam power and clockwork to make gadgets like we have today work."

Take a peek at their blog that not only defines STEAMPUNK, but gives examples of Steampunk costumes, novels, and more!!

In the near future, I'll post a few books and pictures that correlate with Steampunk.

ARC - Skinner's Breakfast Reading Club

YEAH!!  The day is finally here!  After having to postpone our first meeting due to the snow storm last week, ARC - Skinner's Breakfast Reading Club - is ready to get together!

We will meet at the front steps between 6:45-6:50.  The meeting will run from 6:50 - 7:20.  In addition to eating (or rather devouring) some delicious foods, we'll also get to know one another a bit and pick our very first book to read.

I cannot wait to see everyone!!!
